LIT-O-FEST is Mumbai’s Premier Literature, Art & Music Festival. Held annually, Lit-O-Fest has grown into a platform that promotes and gives equal opportunity to writers with aspirations and talent to showcase their work – see

This is a short story contest to bring out the author in you. Join us in showcasing your talent for story-telling. In keeping with the Indian Independence theme, write a story (which can be fictional) on how you achieved, or plan to achieve, independence in your life or overcame some adversity in life.


Your work will be published on IdeaIndia.Com and will be rated online by the readers. The top 5 entries will go before the Judges who will decide the ultimate winner.

 VANDANA SHAH – award-winning divorce lawyer, author, columnist and social entrepreneur on whom the BBC made a documentary 'Invisible Women of India’. She is also the author of the bestseller 'Ex Files’ published by Penguin under the Shobhaa De imprint. She also contributes as a regular columnist on Law/Women Empowerment for Huffington Post India, Huffington Post America, Savvy, Dainik Bhaskar  -







 PANKAJ DUBEYBestselling Bi-lingual Novelist and Filmmaker. His titles, What A Loser! and Ishqiyapa-To Hell With Love, published by Penguin Books India have been written by him in Hindi as well. He accentuates the socio-political undercurrents with quirks and humour in his writing. He has been a Journalist with the BBC World Service in London and was selected for the prestigious Writers' Residency in the Seoul Art Space, Yeonhui, Seoul, South Korea amongst three novelists from Asia in 2016  -





 The winner will get mentoring by the Judges and get their work published as an eBook by IdeaIndia.Com and appear at the next Lit-O-Fest in 2018.




1.  Send your entries, in MS-Word format, in English, upto a word limit of up to 3000 words, along with your name, address, contact number and your photo to with ‘LIT-O-FEST CONTEST’ in the subject line by 31st December 2017.

2.     Your entries will be published on IdeaIndia.Com;

3.     Readers will be able to rate your entry by logging onto IdeaIndia.Com;

4.     The top 3 rated entries, as at, 5pm IST, 12th January 2018, will be chosen to go before the Judges who will decide the winner.

5.     The winner will be announced on Republic Day, 26th January 2018.
